Qualities of great point guards..
1.) Great point guards have to start with playing defense...
a. First line of defense starts with the point guard...
b. Sets the tone for how the team needs to compete...
c. Defense jump starts the offense...
2.) Great point guards have to know how to run a team...
a. Must be an extension of the coach on the floor...
b. A vocal leader...
c. Needs to understand every component of the offense and be ready
to add wrinkles at every given opportunity...
3.) Great point guards know when to take a shot or create a shot
for someone else...
a. PG rule- if you're open and in your comfort range, never hesitate
and take that shot 100% of the time...
b. Know who your shot makers are and where they like to
receive the ball...
c. Always keep the defense honest by mixing it up with inside
and outside shot attempts...
Great point guards are tough and have a fiery spirit, they are aggressive on both sides of the floor but I think the most important quality all great point guards have is PASSION...
